Preface
This was my first commercial anime translation.
I've had my translations commercially published before in the publishing
industry, but this was the first time my translation was released in the
form of an anime show.
The best thing about this project was that the character
designer was Mr. Tsukasa Dokite, an animator that was a fan of since my
childhood. I remember fondly the episodes where he executed his magic
in the Uruseiyatsura TV series. It's hard for me to judge this film
as I have not read the novel that this film was based on. Perhaps
for the fans of the original novel, this film takes a deeper significance.
Notes regarding the translation process
It's been so long, I can't recall much any more.
I'll add more as I remember.
Regarding the complete film
I'll have to get back to you on this. I've
watched the film for so long.
Other notes
Incidently there was a PC Engine game spin-off titled
"Efera and Jiliora, The Emblem From Darkness." It was an atrocious
game overall. I went no father than 30 minutes into the game before I
became frustrated enough that I quit. There were some interesting aspects
to the game. You had the capacity to kill the villagers, (only to
be slaughtered by them in turn) and
the animation sequences were different. The game engineers circumvented
the issue of limited animation by displaying long shots. You can listen
to the audio soundtracks to most, if not all, PC Engine (Turbo Graphics)
CD-ROM games, and this game was no exception. Unfortunately the music
was not very exceptional either. Typical anime bubble gum pop sythesiser
music.
