Bandai Items
(Photographs and text by Dan Kanemitsu.)

I only took photographs of the items that interested myself.  There were numerous other items that Bandai was announcing, such as the massive Yamato display model that featuring synchronized self rotating turrets complete with firing sounds.  I should have gotten at least a few shots of that.
The rest of the stuff at the Bandai booth was mostly new Gundam series material related (i.e., Gundam Seed, etc.)  There was a lot of Keroro stuff around as well.

"Hard Graph" is a new series of Gundam models in 1/35 scale.  Here is a link to the webpage created for Hard Graph.  The emphasis for this series is military scale model like qualities.  I wonder how this series will be received overseas...

The Wappa was small hover vehicle that was featured in the original TV series.  The original design was much more simplified and basic, but the basic shapes are the same.
The Wappa and crew make up the first release of the Hard Graph series.

This hover vehicle and crew will make up the third release of the Hard Graph series.  The contents of the kit was featured in the OVA series 8th MS Platoon.

Everybody was asking the same question at the booth; "So when will the rest of the Zaku's parts be released in 1/35?"
The representative didn't give a clear answer.

The second release of the Hard Graph series featured identifiable characters from the TV series.

True to form, Bandai will be featuring multiple mold colors for this kit.

One particular release that garnered lots of attention was the announcement of the release of the YMT-05 Hildolfr.

This was an experimental tank/MS platform featured in the Mobile Suit Gundam - MS Igloo storyline.

The representative from Bandai said that this kit will be able to partially transform to its MS form.

Some hakogacha (low cost collectiable display toys) of various mobile suits' that I particularily liked.

I was particularily impressed by the Marine Zak they had on offer.

The size should be about 10cm tall.
Price should be about 500 yen.

The original wood mock-up of the Walker Gallia made in the 1980's.  Walker Gallia (probably a bastardization of the word "Walker Carrier," but this is the spelling that's in Bandai's Entertainment Bible series) was a large "walker machine" featured in the Sci-Fi show Xabungle.

Bandai is going a new tooling of the Walker Gallia, and here are some the test shots of the kit.
Most likely, the kit's sprues will be in different mold colors when it is released.

The kit will be in 1/100 scale.

The detail is pretty darn good.

Even if you're not into Xabungle, there are some interesting conversion possibilities that awaits you with this kit.

Plastic models of MS Gundam took Japan by storm when they hit the streets in 1980.  Over the years, all sorts of better and more intricate kits have been released, but now Bandai is trying to captialize on the nostalgia aspect of those original kits from the 1980's.

If I remember right, this recreates a diorama featured in the TV commercials for the original Gundam plastic models from the early 1980's.

You can still buy the original kits, but now Bandai is releasing a "collectible" version of the same kits, at half their original size.

So all these are new tooled kits that are available at local convenience stores as hakogacha.

Yes, Bandai is trying to milk anything and everything that has to do with Gundam...
